Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using the Ancient Greek School website (“the Site”), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use my website.

2. Description of Services

Through Ancient Greek School, I provide educational content related to the Ancient Greek language, including but not limited to:

  • Video lessons and spoken Ancient Greek content
  • Written articles, essays, and translations
  • Audiobook recordings of classical texts
  • Private lessons and group course services
  • Newsletter communications

Using my forms (the contact form and the lesson request) and my newsletter is free. They need an internet connection and a current web browser. Each of these services starts when you send a form or subscribe, and ends once I have answered your message, or when you unsubscribe. If something on the website doesn’t work as it should, email me at the address in section 17, and I’ll answer within 14 days.

Reading my website, watching its videos, and following its News feed are free too, and need the same. That service starts when you open a page and ends when you leave it.

While a page is open, my site runs short scripts in your browser, its own and those of my analytics and error-report providers. What they read, and why, is in section 2 of my Privacy Policy. They store nothing on your device, and you can turn them off in your browser; my pages and forms still work without them.

Using any service over the internet carries some risks: a message can be read or changed on its way if a network along the way is not secure, an email can be made to look as if it came from me, and harmful software on your device can see what you type. To keep these risks small, don’t send me passwords or payment card details through my forms or by email, check that my emails come from an address ending in @ancientgreekschool.com, and keep your browser and device up to date.

3. Content Ownership and Copyright

All original content on this website, including videos, audio recordings, written materials, translations, commentaries, and educational resources, is my intellectual property, unless otherwise stated.

4. Content Sharing and Attribution

You are permitted to share my content (videos, audio, and other materials) under the following conditions:

  • Attribution required: You must provide clear and visible attribution to “Ancient Greek School” with a link to my website (ancientgreekschool.com) when sharing my content.
  • Non-commercial use: Sharing is permitted for personal, educational, and non-commercial purposes.
  • No modification: You may not alter, transform, or build upon my content without explicit permission.
  • No misrepresentation: You may not imply endorsement by or affiliation with Ancient Greek School without permission.

Example Attribution

When sharing my content, please include attribution such as:

“Content by Ancient Greek School (ancientgreekschool.com)”

or

“Video/Audio from Ancient Greek School (ancientgreekschool.com)”

Commercial Use

For commercial use, republication, or inclusion in paid products or services, please contact me to discuss licensing arrangements.

5. Third-Party Content

My website embeds videos from YouTube and links to my profiles on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, Xiaohongshu, and LinkedIn, and to my page on Buy Me a Coffee. Embedded YouTube players, and any content you reach by following those links, remain subject to the terms and conditions of the respective platforms.

6. User Conduct

When using my website and services, you agree not to:

  • Use the site for any unlawful purpose
  • Send me anything unlawful through my forms or by email
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the site
  • Interfere with the proper functioning of the website
  • Transmit any harmful code, viruses, or malicious content
  • Harvest or collect information about other users
  • Use automated systems to access the site without permission

7. Newsletter and Communications

By subscribing to my newsletter, you agree to receive emails from me when group courses open for enrollment and when there are other major updates. Your email address is processed by my newsletter provider, Brevo. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link provided in each email.

8. Analytics

I use Vercel Web Analytics, Vercel Speed Insights, and Ahrefs Web Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated data about how visitors use my site, including page views, interactions with buttons and forms, and real-user performance measurements such as page load timing. This data does not identify individual users and is used solely to improve the website experience. No cookies are used for analytics.

9. Rate Limiting

To prevent abuse and ensure fair access, form submissions (contact form, lesson requests, and newsletter signup) are subject to rate limiting. If you exceed the allowed number of submissions within a short time period, further requests will be temporarily blocked. This is an automated security measure and does not affect normal use of the site.

10. Lessons

I arrange private lessons by email, not on this website. The form on Book Your First Lesson only sends me your message: no lesson is booked or paid for through the site. When we agree on your first lesson, my email to you carries my lesson terms, Lessons in Practice, in full, including your 14-day right to withdraw and a model withdrawal form. Those terms govern our lessons, and where they differ from these Terms of Use, they apply. Group courses, when they run, have terms of their own, which you receive when you enroll.

Lessons for a learner under 18 are arranged by a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to the lesson terms and pays.

If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms takes away the rights the law gives you. Sections 11, 12, and 14 do not limit them and do not change lesson arrangements we have already agreed. Polish law applies to our lesson agreement, and you keep the protection of the consumer laws of the country where you live.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The content on this website is provided “as is” for educational and informational purposes. While I strive for accuracy in all my materials, I make no warranties or representations about the completeness, reliability, or suitability of the information.

I am not responsible for any errors or omissions in content, or for any outcomes resulting from the use of information provided on this site.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the website or services.

My website may contain links to external sites. I am not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of use of these external websites.

14. Modifications to Terms

I may change these Terms of Use. A new version applies from the day it is posted here, with its date at the top, and never to anything that happened before it. It doesn’t change lesson arrangements we have already agreed: my lesson terms change only once you’ve agreed to the change. If you don’t accept a new version, you can stop using the site and unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.

15. Governing Law

Polish law applies to these Terms of Use. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the consumer laws of the country where you live, and nothing here limits your right to bring a claim in the courts your law allows.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
